28/04/2017 - Gymnasts selected for GB trial

 

Today seven of Southampton Gymnastic Club’s elite squad gymnasts, Stephanie Ricketts and Toula Raftopoulou (13-19 Women’s Pair), Ellie Smith and Rebecca Robins (11-16 Women’s Pair) and Bethanie Goodwin, Rhiannon Ford-Bailey and Abigail May (11-16 Women’s Group), learnt that they have been invited to trial for the British Team that will compete in the European Age Group Games in Rzeszow, Poland later this year.

To be invited for trial, gymnasts must have satisfied the National Coach, through their performance in competition, that they are capable of achieving the level of quality required to represent this country. With the fantastic standard of Acrobatics in Great Britain, the bar is set very high, so being invited for trial is a major achievement for both the gymnasts and the squad coaching team.

The Club would like to congratulate Stephanie, Toula, Ellie, Becky, Bethanie, Rhiannon and Abi and wish them every success as they begin their hard work in preparation for the selection event on Saturday 1st July.
