Gym Go (3 - 4 years)

Gym Go follows the same fun and structured approach as Gym Grow (our 2-3 gymnastics class), but with one exciting difference – gymnasts take part independently, without their grown-up. For some children, this may take a few weeks to adjust to, and we will work closely with you to support a smooth and positive transition so every child feels comfortable and confident.

Gymnasts will work alongside our coaches to further develop their gymnastics skills, strength, balance, and coordination through exciting gymnastics activities and themed circuits. As they independently take on new challenges, they will quickly grow in confidence, strengthen their social skills, and learn to work alongside and interact with other children in a supportive environment.

Each Summer Term, gymnasts get the opportunity to demonstrate the skills they have learnt, and attain their award badge within Southampton Gymnastics Club's Award Scheme. Our goal is for every child to earn badges and certificates to recognise their effort, achievement, and personal development, while inspiring them to continue their gymnastics journey through our Pre-School Programme.

The class is divided into 3 sections:

1. Warm-Up:  The session begins with a structured group activity to develop listening skills, independence and their ability to follow instructions. Children will build on basic gymnastics skills while exploring ribbons, beanbags, hoops, and other apparatus through play and creativity, followed by age-appropriate stretching.

2. Circuits:  Children will be split into groups and work independently, following instructions from qualified coaches through circuits focused on skills such as rolling, handstands, cartwheels, balancing, jumping, and safe landings. The circuits will rotate every three weeks to keep sessions engaging and encourage continued participation.

3. Cooldown:  Usually to music, such as action dances, parachute games, shakers, and much more, followed by our gymnastics shape routine. Gymnasts can move, sing, and play together while winding down from the session. It's a fun-filled ending that leaves our gymnasts excited to come back for more!
