Gym Grow (2 - 3 years)

Gym Grow is an exciting, structured class designed to help young gymnasts build confidence while developing their strength, balance, coordination, and fundamental movement skills.

Through themed gymnastics circuits and progressive activities, the gymnasts will continue to develop and refine their gymnastics skills, including travelling, balancing, jumping, rolling, and supporting their own body weight. With the support of their parent/guardian and the guidance of our fully qualified coaches, gymnasts are encouraged to become more independent, take on new challenges, and grow in confidence as they build a wider gymnastics skill set. These sessions help prepare children for the next stage of their journey – Gym Go, our independent pre-school gymnastics class (3-4 years).

Each Summer Term, gymnasts get the opportunity to demonstrate the skills they have learnt, and attain their award badge within Southampton Gymnastics Club's Award Scheme. Our goal is for every child to earn badges and certificates to recognise their effort, achievement, and personal development, while inspiring them to continue their gymnastics journey through our Pre-School Programme.

The class is divided into 3 sections:

1. Warm-Up:  The Gymnasts will come together for a fun-filled group activity, developing basic gymnastics skills while exploring ribbons, beanbags, hoops, and other exciting apparatus through play and creativity.

2. Circuits:  Gymnasts will work in small groups with our coaches to develop and refine key gymnastics skills, including weight bearing, rolling, jumping, balancing, swinging, and landing safely. Parents/guardians will move around the themed circuits alongside their child, providing support, encouragement, and celebrating every achievement along the way. As the gymnasts grow in confidence and ability, they will be encouraged to take on new challenges and develop greater independence. Our circuits change every three weeks, keeping sessions fresh, engaging, and full of exciting opportunities to learn and progress.

3. Cooldown:  Usually to music, such as action dances, parachute games, shakers, and much more. Gymnasts can move, sing, and play together while winding down from the session. It's a fun-filled ending that leaves our gymnasts excited to come back for more!
