20/05/2014 - Tumblers

“ON TRACK”

A small but nevertheless eager group of tumblers headed into the South Region National Qualifying Competition with enthusiasm. Being either their first competition at these levels or recently returning to competition, the gymnasts approached the event with grit and determination.

First up was Charlie Goodwin in his first taste of this standard of competition. He equipped himself well and produced two tumble runs that were well within his capabilities. Charlie went for the less difficulty but neat execution tactic. This approach certainly bore fruit as he achieved a very creditable 4th place finish with a score of 50.30.

Next up was Nicole Parsons, who not only had to deal with the excitement of it being her birthday (Happy Birthday Nicole) but also her first competition back after an 18 month break. She approached both tumbles bravely and controlled what must have been a nervous occasion for her. Having recently return to training following injury, Nicole performed two steady runs to achieve a score of 53.4 against a very tough field of competitors.

Last up of the tight nit team was Jessica Butler who faced the same opposition as Nicole. Always an upbeat and lively character, this is exactly how Jess went for her tumbles. Jessica, flipped and somersaulted her way to a score of 51.2.

It was great to see that some of the clubs tumblers competing again. Well done to all gymnasts.
